Introducing WSExpert™

Wengert Software Engineering, Inc. (WSE) announces the release of WSExpert™, the fully functional and integrated warehouse management and inventory tracking system.

With WSExpert™, goods are tracked from the moment they arrive at the receiving area until such time as they are packaged as part of a customer order and shipped from the warehouse. Each item is tracked by means of a bar code label, which is produced by WSExpert™ when an item is received. Using Intermec JANUS hand-held data collection computers, items are scanned each time they are received, placed into inventory, relocated within inventory, removed from inventory, or packaged for shipment to a customer. The JANUS units communicate in real-time with the WSExpert™ base system via radio frequency (RF), thereby allowing WSExpert™ to track the precise location of hundreds of thousands of items in a warehouse facility.

Running under Microsoft Windows, WSExpert™ provides an extremely powerful yet user-friendly interface to the ODBC inventory database. Users can view the contents of a warehouse bin location simply by pointing and clicking with a mouse. All items in a bin are then displayed. In addition, search utilities are available to locate a single package anywhere in the warehouse or to show the total quantity of a particular item currently in stock.

The user can configure alarms to be generated automatically when inventory exceeds or drops below a given level. In addition, WSExpert™ can be configured to alarm if a perishable item has been stocked for longer than some preset time. WSExpert™ assists order packing by finding the oldest items for an order, rejecting items not required for an order, and maintaining up to date status on each and every order including quantity needed, quantity picked and quantity on-hand for each item in the order.

WSExpert™ can be interfaced to existing data processing systems as required by the customer. The WSExpert™ database can be exported into many popular database and spreadsheet packages (e.g. Excel) for customers with their own in-house tracking systems. WSExpert™ can provide these systems with transactions describing the receipt or shipment of an item. For example, when a customer order is built and shipped, WSExpert™ can generate a transaction describing which items were packed and shipped. Wengert Software Engineering, Inc. will provide custom interface software and hardware when required by the customer's data processing system(s).
