Wengert Successfully Completes Acceptance Test at United States Steel in Dravosburg, PA

Dravosburg, PA

Wengert's Bell Annealing Stack Builder (BASB) program recently passed its 60 day acceptance test at USS Irvin Works. BASB will be used to generate optimum stacks of cold-rolled sheet coils for U.S. Steel's High Performance Hydrogen batch annealing facility. The facility is the largest of its kind in North America. In addition, USS has chosen Wengert to extend the coil stacking system with a coil inventory package. The inventory tracking package will run with the BASB database and will provide radio frequency crane terminals and an interface program to be used by crane operators. The program will track the movement of each and every coil in the annealing inventory. This will allow BASB to make even more intelligent decisions when choosing coils for stack building. Moreover, the system will pin-point the location of every coil in inventory in real-time, making it virtually impossible to misplace material or to miss a scheduled delivery date for a customer order.

Wengert to Provide WSEasy Sales Force Automation System to Leonard's Syrups in Detroit, MI

Detroit, MI

Leonard's Syrups has selected Wengert Software Engineering, Inc. to provide a customized route sales force automation system for its operations in Detroit. This system has been running at a Respond Systems distributor in Northboro, Massachusettes since February, 1998. The system will be modified to include a new routing methodology to assist route managers and route sales representatives in determining which customers need to be visited on a given day. In addition, it will allow for the creation of service style invoices and will provide for sequencing of customers on a given route. Moreover, WSEasy will build daily truck loads based upon the customers due service and the order history of those customers. The system is planned for initial installation in mid-March 1999 and should be fully operational before 1 April 1999. Leonard's will equip 10 route sales representatives with HP1000CX palmtop computers and an additional 8 reps with Intermec 2010 JANUS portable computers.
