Wengert to Provide Cross-Docking Inventory System to Iron City Sash and Door Company

Iron City Sash and Door Company has selected Wengert Software Engineering, Inc. to provide a customized, inventory cross-docking system at its facility in Sandy Lake, PA. The system will include two Intermec JANUS 2020 handheld computers and DataSouth 4102 portable barcode label printers.

Each morning, the JANUS units will be tasked with orders that are to arrive that day via infrared serial data interface. Whenever the trucks arrive, each product will be scanned and a new, internal barcode label will be printed. The user will affix the label to the product. Based upon the product and the associated data in the database, the label will also contain the warehouse location where the product should be stored. In addition, the program will "check-off" the item indicating it was received. At the end of the day, the scans will be reconciled against the original orders and will be uploaded back to the host system.

After the initial installation, the system will be rolled out to several other facilities throughout North America.
