Wengert Provides Portable Building Maintenance Software System for The Diocese of Steubenville
Steubenville, OH
The Diocese of Steubenville headquartered in Steubenville, Ohio has contracted with Wengert Software Engineering, Inc. to provide a building maintenance automation system. This package will consist of a software program running on a Hewlette Packard 1000CX palmtop computer. Building inspectors will carry the palmtop while on their inspection route. Upon arrival at a site, the inspector will key in the site ID number or choose it from a sorted pick list. He will then select each building to be inspected. For each building, the palmtop program will direct him as to what items he should inspect. As each is inspected, he will enter the condition of the item, whether it needs immediate or future attention, and the estimated cost to repair (if any). The palmtop will maintain historical inspection reports so that the inspector can call up a previous year's report to compare the condition of each item he inspects.
Upon return to the home office, the inspector will connect his HP to the Windows 95 host PC at which time all data is uploaded and stored in a relational database. The application can then be used to generate inspection reports, reports of items requiring immediate attention, and total estimated costs for repairs by site, building, etc.
Each site can be configured as to how many and what types of buildings are there, name of the Pastor/Administrator in charge, full address information, etc. The Diocese plans to use the system to get a better handle on the state of its buildings and to follow up on repairs made based upon inspection reports.
Wengert Software Engineering, Inc. has developed the automated inspection system from its proven and popular WSEasy Route Sales Force Automation product.
